With the weather at the all-time hottest this weekend, I knew my look was going to have to be quick, easy & cool. I paired a plain grey tank that you can get cheap from any store–mine was $5.99 from Rainbow wih a pair of stretch-waisted shorts from Avenue. Here’s the kicker with the shorts–I spotted them on the sales rack for half off ($8), but they didn’t have my size, nothing remotely close. But, I wanted those shorts. So, I took the available size 30/32, pulled them up as if they were high-waisted & belted them with a skinny brown belt I got at Conway that came with a pair of shorts for $8.99. Sure the shorts were huge, but the belt kept them in place and the looseness of it all made me so comfortable!
Since I was going to the movies that day, I knew I would need a sweater or something for my arms because it gets soooo cold in the theatres. This time, I opted for a scarf that was given to me by an old coworker. It’s got beautiful golden flowers, greys and some deep reds in it. I love this scarf. I never really know what do to with them, so most times, I just tie them on to whatever bag I’m carrying.
I have a feather obsession & when I come across a fly piece of jewelry with feathers–I gotta get it! My feathered necklace is from Rainbow for $5.99. I absolutely love it! I’m gonna rock it til the feathers fall off! LOL Of course I had to wear my new H&M glasses that have pretty much become my summer shades. I love a good aviator!
My bag was an awesme frugal find in Vegas. I was just looking around in Caesar’s Palace & saw a kiosk with a sign that said “Everything $10!” You know that’s my kinda price, so, I dug in & found this awesome bronze bag. The sandals are from Avenue & I love them because they are something outside of the gladiator trend.
I’m sure you remember my Harlem street vendor fedora. This hat works with almost any outfit & definitely helps to keep cool! My earrings are also from a Harlem street vendor. The woman I got them from sells her earrings for 3 for $5. If that’s not a steal, I don’t know what is! My bangles are from Top Shop men’s department! I almost couldn’t believe I found them for $3! Here’s a Fashion FYI: ladies with big bones–try shopping for your bracelets in the men’s accessories. Sometimes jewelry can be androgynous. It never hurts to look!
Well that’s it–the Around the Way Girl look that’s definitely easy, breezy & oh so summer-ready.
