Red Bottoms

I have fallen in love with colorblocking. When one of my coworkers did a piece on colorblocking, I knew it was time to try it for myself. I’m usually a matchy-matchy person, so it’s so hard for me to play with color when it doesn’t directly match. But, I did it!

No, the Frugal Fatshionista did not hit the lottery and head directly to Louboutin to get her own pair of red bottoms. I’m talking about these awesome wide-legged linen pants from Ashley Stewart a couple of years ago for about $15 on sale.

The pants are very red-orange and that color is directly across from blue-green on the color wheel, so I figured I would use that color to contrast. When I spotted this H&M blouse at Netta P’s Plus Clothing Swap, I got excited because I knew it would be a great color to rock with these pants.

Now that I know I can wear H&M clothes with no problem, I’ll be shopping there a lot more often!

I had to match it all just a little bit, using my tribal printed tie from Goodwill for $3.

Have you tried colorblocking yet? I am now obsessed and will be doing it a lot more often!
