If you love your movies with a love story wrapped in the triumph of college girls from all walks of life coming together to cover catchy tunes like Blackstreet’s “No Diggity,” Jessie J’s “Price Tags” and Rihanna’s “S&M,” then “Pitch Perfect” is for you. The movie leaves you with a desire to want to start an a cappella group just so you can have your own “Riff Off!”
I’m sure you have no clue what a “Riff Off” is, but that give you more of a reason to see the movie. Well there’s that and Ester Dean’s portrayal of “Cynthia Rose,” a lesbian who’s rough around the edges with a solid gold voice. Rose’s soulful voice landed her a spot on the new and improved version of the Barton Bellas. With a few snags along the way, the Bellas learn that working together will take them to the top!
After watching the film (and in between holding my own auditions for my new a cappella group), I got a chance to sit down with Ester Dean and she told me this movie helped her be comfortable with herself, how she didn’t want to “act like” a lesbian and “Pitch Perfect” was a challenge that she needed.
“Pitch Perfect” is out in theaters today!
